Episode 26 Urinetown

The discovery of phosphorus, 50 years after this statue was erected, involved a lot of urine. (Photo: Wikimedia Commons)

We are on the weird side of the tracks in Philadelphia with everything you’ve ever wanted to know about graffiti, cockroaches, tattoos, pee, and more. James Altucher (host of The James Altucher Show) is our special guest co-host, with Mike Maughan (head of global insights at Qualtrics) as real-time fact-checker.

Too bad you had a couple of drunk girls (How in the heck did drunken podcasts and such become a thing anyway?), introduce the Dictionary of American Regional English. I’m sure the DARE project (which BTW is based out of my Alma Mater, UW-Madison), and the dedicated linguists who’s efforts went into the most recent publication, are just tickled by this.

  • I hate, Hate, HATE your new format. You’ve removed most of the fun we enjoyed in the earliest episodes. If you want us to tune back in, you’ll need to bring back the panel of 3 judges with their hilarious commentary and the questions challenged by participants.

Hi guys, I’m loving some parts of the new format – like learning more about the idks presented. However the show is feeling a little slow for me now and like others, I miss the panellist quizzing at the end and even the wee audience chip in section. Could you maybe split the difference? Thank you for having Steven Dubner as host. He has a wonderful radio voice and a gsoh, which suits your show so well. Love from Germany!
